Walking While Black- Trayvon Martin Killed By Neighborhood Watch Guard
I would go into a rave about how utopian our present day ‘post racial’ society has been, but unfortunately, that would be chock full of lies. Just take a look at the life of Trayvon Martin that was ended at the hands of George Zimmerman, a Jewish/Latino neighborhood watch guard, on February 26. Trayvon Martin was on his way home from a 7-11 with skittles in his hand and $20 in his pocket, when his life was ended with a single bullet to his chest from the gun of George Zimmerman. Zimmerman was the neighborhood watch guard in the Sanford, Florida gated community Trayvon was visiting.

According to reports, Zimmerman followed the teen in his patrol car while he was walking down the street an cited it as ‘suspicious activity’ when he placed a call to 911. Zimmerman then stated he acted in self-defense against the 140lb 17 year old. I can see how a bottle of Arizona Ice Tea and a bag of Skittles could be considered dangerous.
No. I really can’t.
It is now March 9th and Zimmerman still hasn’t been arrested for the murder. Authorities have offered very little information to the public and Trayvon’s family is outraged and rightfully so. Their answers about their son’s murder have not been answered by the authorities. Zimmerman has not been charged or arrested.
An incident like this can happen anywhere. What’s even more astounding is that Zimmerman was not a police officer. He was just a person working with the neighborhood crime watch. It’s bad enough police brutality exists, but when trigger happy vigilantes take the law into their own hands, the only people left without answers are the victim’s family members.
In the age of internet rallying for justice, a petition has been set up on Change.org to encourage Florida’s 18th District State’s Attorney Norman Wolfinger and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to formally file murder charges against Zimmerman. I am so sorry for Trayvonne and right now I feel the deepest empathy for his parents and brother. These wonderful parents are suffering the worst kind of tragedy a parent can suffer from and my heart aches.

The qualification in this piece – that the mother of the perpetrator is Hispanic and (only) the father is ‘white’ is inaccurate. The father is Jewish. If we are going to use (Jim Crowe) terms to describe individuals let’s use them correctly. Zimmerman ain’t ‘white’, in any sense.

This news is just devastating to me. To think that this gun wielding jerk could put a loaded gun to this boy’s chest and actually shoot him – TO KILL HIM – and this kid was probably begging for his life – I’d like to ask this Zimmerman, who is actually hispanic – and it’s well known how hispanics hate black people – this should be charged as a hate crime as well – I’m so upset over this – Thanks to another Bush, Florida has a law on their books which entitles white people to kill anyone they want, apparently. I just think there’s not a judge alive who could say this was self defense -THIS WAS COLD BLOODED KILLING OF A CHILD. I actually just listened to the 911 recordings, and it deeply saddens me to think that this could have very well been either of my 2 sons, or my brother, hell one of my nephews.Out walking from a store, doing the right thing. My prayers go out to the family of this young man. Not only did Zimmerman take a life, but based on some of the 911 calls, he has also managed to polarize a community with fright. He needs to be, and should have been arrested. I don’t put much stock into the justice system as it applies to working for us, and by us I mean blacks, but I sincerely hope that this situation can be handled appropriately, and this man pay for his crime, so that the family can get the proper closure they need and begin the grief process.
I was horrified and saddened by yet another case of a young black man being murdered by some uppity fool. The shooting of the handcuffed metro commuter in San Fran in the back when he was lying face down was bad enough, but this, involving the murder of a lovely young man by some disgusting thug is even worse! Who on earth does Zimmerman think he is and why on earth do the authorities allow people like him to get away with such things. It sends out a terrible message because the next idiot walking around with a gun and a simplistic (racist?) attitude would hardly be deterred from carrying out similar actions.
I don’t think that ‘the system’ is ever really going to change regarding the way they view a black life and I think black people ought to take the law into their own hands, like Zimmerman did, and give such bastards a taste of their own medicine! It’s the ONLY thing they’ll understand.
This is an outrage and one that could easily happen anywhere in America, especially below the bible belt. As long as we keep thinking America is post racism (an oxymoron in fact), we will continue to be shocked by things like this. Zimmerman, I hope you get jailed with the people who you were afraid would come in your neighborhood. Until then, no justice, no peace!

Okay, so let’s reverse the roles. What if Trayvon Martin had stalked Mr. Zimmerman in a car, then exited the vehicle to chase and attack him, then shot him dead?
I’ve got a lot of sympathy for Zimmerman’s plight. I wouldn’t want anyone’s blood on my hands, much less a teenager’s, even if I were totally in the right. It must be a living nightmare for him.
That being said, it appears it was Zimmerman’s conscious decision to ignore the 911 dispatcher and accost Martin, and Martin’s death was a direct result of Zimmerman’s choices. To my mind, that amounts to negligent homicide or manslaughter at best, and however much I feel sympathy, he should be held to account.

I have never heard of a “Thug” having dreams of being an aviation mechanic. This guy George should have to prove self -defense first just like any other murderer would be required to do.
in researching the law I found it has been applied to clear ‘minorities’ more then whites in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee I think this is due mostly to the simple fact that the majority of reported shootings happen in these ‘minority’ communities.
Had the roles been reversed, Trayvon would’ve been tried and convicted before seeing a jury. Regardless to race, this is just plain WRONG! Zimmerman gets not even a mustard seed of sympathy from me! According to dispatched calls released to the public, Zimmerman made a racial remark and then noted “They always get away with soooo much.” He already had in his mind to harm that child as far as I’m concerned and used the 911 call to cover his behind. He should be charged with premeditated murder!
When I first heard about this incident, the details were vague and my initial thoughts were to shrug and say good riddance to the animals killing each other, because worthless scumbags are USUALLY the ones killing each other around here. Then I found another article that provided more information, and I can’t help but feel sad for this kid and his family.
Not enough evidence my ass. The evidence they have is that he didn’t like the LOOK of the teenager when he called police to report a suspicious person. The “suspicious” part is that he was wearing a hoodie and walking slowly in the rain, and that “these assholes always get away” in Zimmerman’s words. The evidence they have is that he stalked the kid in his car, got out of his car to confront the kid, chased the kid, got into a fight with the kid, then shot the kid dead. THAT is the evidence they have. If he claims it is in self-defense, that is up to a judge to decide, not the cops. They have proof that he shot someone, they don’t have proof that it was self defense. The self-defense story is what needs to be proven. It’s innocent until proven guilty, and he has been proven guilty of shooting someone. Now is when it’s up to him to prove that the shooting was excusable.
I’d bet my next paycheck that if the kid had managed to wrestle the gun away and shoot Zimmerman in self-defense instead, obviously because some crazy redneck twice his size just randomly attacked him, that he’d be behind bars waiting for his trial right now. Then to find out that the cops not only believe the impossible self-defense story purely on trust, this story has me seething. I hope a good attorney takes up an interest in this case and sues the pants off the HOA, the cops, and I hope one of the “suspicious assholes” Zimmerman misjudged Trayvon to be comes back to deliver sweet justice to him in the night. This guy is obviously just a power-hungry redneck who spends his time looking for any excuse to exert his perceived authority upon others. Somebody do the world a favor and bump him off already.
Amen Brother, I have 5 kids and to think some stranger feeling the power of having a gun justifies his confronting and then shooting a kid! No way, if the prosecutor wouldn’t stick up for my kid, the Marine in me would show Mr Zimmerman the true end of the barrel!

That alone should be enough to arrest george zimmerman, because if he would’ve listened to the 911 dispatcher Trayvon Martin would still be alive and the cops would’ve noticed that all he had on him was candy and ice tea. george zimmerman approached Trayvon Martin wanting to use his gun and he did.
George is devastated by the situation. He is not a monster. I’ve known him 3 years now and he doesn’t so much as raise his voice to anyone. It is a shame that this young boy was killed, but let the law do its job. Police are running an investigation to make sure they get the correct story and don’t screw up the case or evidence. The media is turning this into a circus like they do everything else. The police are working fast to take care of this case, let them do their job and stop blasting someone you don’t even know. George may have made a poor decision by not letting the police handle it, but let the law do it’s job. BTW he’s hispanic not white.

I have no sympathy for George because he should be devastated. He murdered someone for no apparent reason. He is a cold blooded murdered and he would be behind bars if he were white. He deserves to be in jail while the police do their investigation.

When is it ever alright to kill another American citizen? Is it ok when the person is non-white? Is it ok when the person is gay? Is it ok when the person looks differently then you do? Is it ok when the person does not practice the same religion you do? Is it ok when the person who is killed is someone you approach out of the blue with a gun in your hand? Is that the new rule? If you see someone wearing suspicious clothing sold publicly and openly in America stores and that person is non-white, you are granted special rights to kill them. It is this the new rule? Is this law and order now? Maybe the manufacture of the clothing should be held responsible. After all it is crime to walk publicly in American streets if you are non-white dressed in a non-white manner–right? No! It is not right even if you are white? It is lawless. It is unforgettable. It is murder. What is ever more amazing about this matter is this. It was ok with the law enforcement agency to tag this as self-defense. Self-defense? When did the concept change? Self-defense implies approaching any non-white person while carrying a firearm who is not approaching, following or intentionally targeting you nor imposing a threat. Being non-white walking in America carries the potential penalty of death. Is this the new America?

You can know him for the next twenty years and fact is still fact. If the police were doing their dang job, old George would be behind bars. I guess he doesn’t raise his voice. Actually, I thought the local police had concluded their investigation — with no formal legal process, no arrest, no trial, despite the facts of the case, and the serious nature of the death of this young boy. Only through intense public discussion and demonstration, did the case get a second look by the Federal Justice department, and by the state of Florida, which has now decided to hold a grand jury. Without public outcry and discourse, there would be no legal process.
You are correct the public outcry is what has put the pressure on the local & fed authorities, w/o it, it nothing would have been done!

I have a question for all. If another black teen is walking down the street, happens to run into Zimmerman and shoots HIM, would it be self defense because he feared for his life?
