Yesha Callahan is a culture critic and editor based in the Washington, D.C. area. In 2017, after starting out as a staff writer in 2014, she became the Deputy Managing Editor of The Root, where she manages a team of staff writers and editors covering breaking news, politics, culture and entertainment. She has written for places such as the New York Times, Blogher and Jezebel, and is also a television writer and most recently wrote for a late night talk show on BET. As an author, she contributed to CRUSH: Writers Reflect on Love, Longing, and the Lasting Power of Their First Celebrity Crush, and her essay received rave reviews from Kirkus Reviews. She is currently developing a television show with The Daily Show’s creator, Madeleine Smithberg and her writing partner, Danielle Belton.
