Blackout for Human Rights, a collective of Black filmmakers, musicians and artists is hosting the first annual “MLK Now” event today in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday.
The event, happening in Harlem, promises to be a powerful affair that celebrates the legacy of Dr. King and “explores how his message and vision continue to resonate in today’s racial, social and political landscape. ”
“MLK Now” will feature a superstar lineup of actors, director, and activists, including Harry Belafonte, Chris Rock, Octavia Spencer, Anika Noni Rose, Michael B. Jordan, India Arie, Tessa Thompson, Ryan Coogler, and more.
For those who cannot attend the event, “MLK Now” organizers have partnered with VICE to offer a livestream.
