It’s hard to believe, but this June will mark the seventh year since Michael Jackson passed away. Since his death, Jackson’s popularity has only increased, and next month, Spike Lee will unveil his new documentary about the King of Pop.

The film, “Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall” follows Jackson’s switch from being a member of the Jackson 5 to one of the biggest pop stars in history.

In “Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall,” Spike Lee minds a treasure trove of footage, including video from Jackson’s personal archive for the film. The documentary also includes interviews with folks who have been influenced by Jackson’s work, including Questlove, Pharrell Williams, Lee Daniels, The Weeknd, Misty Copeland, Mark Ronson, John Legend, L.A. Reid, and more, as well as members of his family.

Released in 1979, “Off the Wall” was Jackson’s first breakout album as a solo artist, selling more than 20 million albums to date, and spawning four top 10 singles.

Lee’s documentary will premiere on Showtime on Friday, February 5th at 9 p.m.

  1. Off the Wall is a MASTERPIECE. It’s one of my fav albums. Thriller gets all the attention but OTW is MJ’s best album.

  2. I can’t wait for this so hard that my stomach hurts. Absolutely my favorite MJ album. Made in the disco era but transcends the 70s. Anyone who doesn’t automatically dance when any of these songs comes on is no friend of mine.
